GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE ekran kartımı kuramıyorum

Ubuntu 8.04 üzerinde sorunsuz kullandığım GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE (PCI IDE 0x0282) ekran kartımı Ubuntu 8.10 üzerinde kuramıyorum. Ubuntu ekran kartı kurulum aracı ekran kartını tanımıyor. Resmi forumlara baktım ancak orada bilgi bulamadım.

Acemi kullanıcı değilim, 2 senedir Ubuntu kullanıyorum. Envy ile de denedim ancak kurulumdan sonra sistem açılmıyor, kullanıcı giriş ekranına bile gelmiyor. Takılıp kalıyor ve log dosyalarında bir iz bırakmıyor.

Ekran kartım depoda bulunan 96x serisi ile uyumlu. Depo üzerinden paketleri indirip kurdum ama bir işe yaramadı. Bu ekran kartı çok eski bir ekran kartı değil. Biraz araştırınca konunun xorg sürümü ile ilgili olduğu kanaatine vardım. Sanıyorum 8.10 ile gelen xorg AGP serisi Nvidia ekran kartları ile uyumsuz.

Ben şimdi ekran kartımı nasıl tanıtacağım?

Aynı sorunu bende yaşıyorum, ekran kartımız aynı değil ama aynı seri sürücüyü kullanıyor. Çözüm için önerileri bende denedim ama bir çözüm olmadı. Ubuntu 8.04 kurmanızı öneriyorum.

Eleştirilerinize katılıyorum. Ubuntu'yu şu an savunabileceğim + bir yönü olmadığı için kullanıp kullanmamak tamamen size kalmış. Bu halde oturmamış, olmamış, bir sürü çözülmemiş hata kaydı bulunan bir ana sürümü yayınlamak bence de doğru değildi ama yayınlama tarihi önceden verildiği için muhtemelen yayınlamak zorunda kaldılar.

Ubuntu 3-5 kişinin kullandığı bir dağıtım değil. Dünyada Windows kurulu 500 milyon kişisel bilgisayar olduğu tahmin ediliyor. Ubuntu kurulu kişisel bilgisayar sayısınında 10 milyon civarı olduğu söyleniyor. 10 milyon 500 milyon yanında küçük kalabilir, Windows kullanıcıları Ubuntu kullanıcılarının 50 katı olabilir ama bu 10 milyon kişisel bilgisayar kullanıcısı ekran kartını bile kurmayı hak etmiyor mu?

Dünyanın en popüler dağıtımının en kararsız dağıtımlar arasına girmeye çalışma çabalarına şaşırıyor bir o kadar da üzülüyorum. Ne olacak bizim halimiz?

Benim kullandığım yöntemi size önerebilirim. Xorg.conf dosyanıza monitor ve hertz ayarlarınızı elle girin. Biraz uğraştırıyor ama işe yarıyor. Synaptic ile daha önce kullandığınız driver ı indirin device kısmına nvidia yazın. Bende işe yaradı. Umarım sizde de yarar.
